Articulate your vision and mission clearly – to get people on board with your goals you need to be able to tell them what you are trying to achieve and why, quickly and succinctly.
Engage with your grassroots audience, and empower them to help change happen.It is likely that the aim of your social mission is aligned with the desires of activists and proactive consumer groups already in existence, with their own networks.
Bake a good story. Your story is your brand. It will attract members to your community and keep them engaged. Always share what you’re building and why you’re building it.
Take care of yourself. Starting anything is hard. Starting something you truly care about is even harder. The pressure you’ll put on yourself to succeed will end up being greater than anything you’ll experience in your average career. Open up to your family and friends. Celebrate the little things, the momentum will carry you.
